A slip road on the A30 was closed this evening due to a traffic accident in Cornwall, creating quite a stir among local drivers. The westbound exit slip road at Camborne, particularly near the Premier Inn hotel, was shut down following the incident that occurred around 7:10 PM on Sunday, February 8. Traffic monitoring service Inrix reported, "A30 westbound exit slip road closed due to accident at A3047 (Camborne West)."
If you were driving in the area, you would have noticed delays. Google’s traffic sensors indicated significant congestion stretching from the slip road all the way to the Premier Inn junction. Fortunately, by 8:30 PM, reports confirmed that the delays had cleared, allowing for smoother travel once again.
Meanwhile, it wasn't just the A30 experiencing disruptions. Reports indicated that other roads in Cornwall were also affected. For instance, there was another accident causing delays on the A38 at Trerulefoot. According to Inrix, "One lane closed due to accident on A38 Eastbound at A374 (Trerulefoot roundabout)."
As of 8:30 PM, while the slip road at Camborne was still marked as closed, Google's traffic data suggested that the queues had dissipated, with no visible congestion remaining in the vicinity.
In a nutshell, it seems the chaos on the roads has mostly subsided, but it serves as a reminder of how quickly traffic conditions can change due to unforeseen events.
