Fox News has achieved a significant milestone by topping January ratings, while MS NOW and CNN have seen an increase in viewership. However, the story doesn't end there. In the prime-time hours, Fox News averaged 2.05 million viewers, a 26% decline from the previous year. MS NOW, on the other hand, saw a 21% increase in viewers, averaging 887,000. CNN averaged 660,000, a 26% rise from 2025. But here's where it gets controversial... While Fox News dominated the ratings, it's important to note that the news cycle was filled with high-profile events, including the arrest of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and the tragic shooting deaths of Rene Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. However, last year, President Donald Trump's inauguration saw Fox News with significant gains while its rivals struggled. Fox News has been the top cable news network for over 24 years. The Five, hosted by Tucker Carlson, was the most-watched show, averaging 3.73 million viewers. In the 25-54 demographic, The Five led with 328,000 viewers, followed by Gutfeld! and Jesse Watters Primetime. MS NOW's top show, The Rachel Maddow Show, averaged 1.88 million, while CNN's most-watched program, CNN Newsroom, averaged 730,000. MS NOW's coverage of former special counsel Jack Smith's testimony drew an average of 1.2 million viewers, and CNN reported its most-watched prime-time month since the November 2024 election. Among other networks, Newsmax's Rob Schmitt Tonight averaged 345,000, and NewsNation's Cuomo averaged 188,000. NewsNation noted a 5% year-over-year growth in the Cuomo audience.
