Epic Pictures and Dread have released the first poster for the live-action adaptation of The Mortuary Assistant, ahead of its theatrical debut on February 13, 2026. Oracle’s Movie Crib shared the poster on X, featuring the tagline "Get possessed" and highlighting the film's unsettling atmosphere. The movie, based on the popular horror video game, will stream on Shudder starting March 27.

Earlier this month, Epic Pictures and Dread revealed the release date and first trailer for The Mortuary Assistant. Jeremiah Kipp (Slapface) directs the film, while Brian Clarke, the original game’s creator, co-wrote the script with Tracee Beebe. Willa Holland (Arrow) stars as Rebecca Owens, and Paul Sparks (Boardwalk Empire) plays her mentor. The cast also features John Adams (Hellbender), Keena Ferguson, and Mark Steger (Stranger Things) as The Mimic.

The Mortuary Assistant follows newly certified mortician Rebecca Owens as she begins a night shift alone at the River Fields mortuary. During her shift, she embalms bodies and encounters increasingly disturbing phenomena. The story explores possession, demonic rituals, and buried trauma. Rebecca uncovers dark secrets about her workplace, her mentor, and herself.

Patrick Ewald’s Epic Pictures produced the film through its horror division, Dread. The production also involved Cole Payne’s Traverse Media and Jacob P. Heineke. Brian Clarke, Katie Page, Yulissa Morales, Randy Sinquefield, Patrick Fischer, and Oliver Garboe served as executive producers.

"Seeing The Mortuary Assistant make the leap from game to film is incredibly rewarding," said Brian Clarke (via Deadline). "Fans of the game will finally witness the world they’ve explored come alive, while genre film audiences will discover a story filled with tension, dark secrets, and unforgettable scares."
